She received her BS in chemical engineering from the University of Waterloo and then became a process engineer at Woodbridge Foam. Afterward, she worked as a quality engineer at Estee Lauder Corporation, a project manager for ATS Automation Tooling Systems, and then as the assistant manager of quality engineering at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, where her primary role was to ensure accurate root cause analysis on completed vehicle or sub-component quality problems related to customer-use, manufacturing, or design-related issues. She then became the director of global quality for valve and pipes manufacturing at Crane ChemPharma & Energy, where she was responsible for implementing Global Standard Quality Processes to manage in-house and supplier manufacturing.
