Use of Force Expert Witnesses in Nevada

This expert is a retired police officer and owner of a police training and consulting firm. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Management, a Masters of Science in Psychology and is completing a doctoral degree in Performance Psychology. He is a Certified Criminal Investigator with the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute and a Force Science Certified Analyst with the Force Science Institute He currently teaches the application of Human Factors science to a police officer's use of force (Attention, Perception, Response Time, Decision Making, and Memory). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice, a Police Academy Instructor, and a Force Options Simulator Instructor at a large regional training center. This expert served 32 years with the San Francisco Police Department in a variety of different capacities. He began his experience as a police officer for nine years in patrol, and then went on to serve as a Sergeant and Inspector in the Investigations Bureau for over four years investigating Violent Crimes, Auto Theft, Burglary and Domestic Violence. He went on to serve as a Commander in the Patrol Bureau, Investigations Bureau, and over the Tactical Company and Homeland Security Unites. In his final role with the San Francisco Police Department, he served as Deputy Chief and was responsible for oversight of the 1700 member patrol force. Since retiring from the Police Department in 2013, this expert has been serving as a Lecturer in Criminal Justice Studies at a University in California.

This highly-qualified expert has nearly 40 years of experience in law enforcement and security operations. He is a licensed private investigator and has extensive experience in law enforcement best practices, security guard operations, use of force, premise liability, complex criminal investigations, homicide investigations, and K9 handling. He earned his BA from Claremont McKenna College before beginning his 30-year career with the LAPD. This expert started as a police officer I and rose in the ranks to eventually retire as a lieutenant II, officer-in-charge. Over the course of his career with the LAPD, he worked in several divisions, including the metropolitan division as a K9 handler, the burglary-auto theft division, major crimes division, and the robbery-homicide division. Upon retiring from the LAPD, this expert served as the CEO of Critical Solutions Protective Services Group for 7 years. Currently, this expert is the CEO and senior investigator of a private investigations consulting firm in California.
