Prosthetics Expert Witnesses

This Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons is a partner and faculty orthopedic surgeon at a private practice surgical center. He has remained in active clinical practice for over 30 years, during which he has authored and co-authored several publications on joint orthopedics and has made presentations on hip and knee reconstruction.

This expert is a world renowned Biomedical Engineer specializing in prosthetics. He received a BA in mathematics and a BAI in microelectronics and electrical engineering from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, in 1983. After working as a control engineer in England, he moved to the USA and obtained his MS and PhD degrees in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He has extensive experience working with lower and upper limb prosthetics research. His recent research is focused on the development an artificial hand replacement capable of true dexterous manipulation for use by persons with upper-limb loss. He covers all aspects of the problem ranging from neural control and sensing, mechatronic design and development, novel actuator technologies, and clinical deployment of these systems. He is currently the Director of the Biomechatronics Development Laboratory at a university in CO. He is also a Research Healthcare Scientist for a VA Health Care System, and holds Research Associate Professor appointments in the Departments of Bioengineering and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

This expert received his MSc and PhD in Biomechanics from the University of Waterloo (Canada), and followed up with a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Mobility at Toronto Rehab Institute/Sunnybrook Hospital/University of Toronto. He has over 25 years of experience in biomechanics and kinesiology of human movement. His clinical and research work has included orthotics & prosthetics, footwear, back injury, and neurological disorders (cerebral palsy, myelomeningocele, stroke, multiple sclerosis, incomplete spinal cord injury, post-polio). Before his current role, he collaborated in, developed, and managed multidisciplinary clinical and research motion analysis labs in the US and Canada, and taught several biomechanics courses.

This highly qualified and certified rheumatologist has extensive experience having practiced for over 13 years. Earning his MD from University of Ioannina Medical School in Greece with summa cum laude honors, he went on to serve as a Research Scholar at Northwestern University College of Medicine. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Brown University’s Rhode Island Hospital while his Rheumatology Fellowship took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Presbyterian/Cornell Campus. The expert has extensive expertise in the treatment of autoimmune disorders encompassing, but not limited to, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome and Vasculitis. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and has served as Clinical Investigator in multiple, international, randomized controlled trials. He has served as an ad hoc reviewer, editorial board member and Lead Editor in peer-reviewed rheumatology journals. Formerly he served as Chief of Rheumatology at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center and as a professor at New Jersey Medical School. Currently he acts as the Associate Chief of Rheumatology at a major New York medical center while concurrently teaching at a major New York medical college.

This highly qualified expert has nearly a decade of experience in the field of Prosthetics. This expert received a BS in Computer Science from Texas Tech University and, after serving in the US Navy, this expert became a Certified Prosthetist at the California State University Dominguez Hills. He completed a residency at New England Orthotics and Prosthetics Systems and then went on to work as a Prosthetist at Gulf Prosthetics. This expert then worked as a Licensed Prosthetist at Advanced Biomechanics and RGV Prosthetics concurrently. Currently, this expert is the Head of Prosthetics at a Rehabilitation center.

This professor of Metallurgy maintains a keen expertise in metallurgy, alloys, mechanical performance, metal deformation and fracture mechanics and failure analysis. After earning his PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, he moved to the United States where he served as a National Research Council research fellow at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. For more than 20 years, he has taught at a prominent university in the Western US, lecturing and conducting research on fracture mechanics and material design.

This expert has over 20 years of expertise in materials consulting and forensic engineering work. He received a bachelor's in manufacturing engineering from Brunel University of West London. He continued on at Brunel to earn his PhD in metallurgy. A licensed metallurgical engineer, he is a member of the American Society of Testing & Materials and the American Society of Materials International. He served as a senior metallurgical engineer at Testing Engineers INC. and a materials engineer for the RJ Lee Group. Currently he works as a senior metallurgical engineer.

This expert attended Auburn University to complete his BS in Rehabilitation Services, his MS in Rehabilitation Counseling, and his PhD in Rehabilitation Services. He is a ABC certified Prosthetist and Orthotist, and a certified Rehabilitation Counselor. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, past board member Commission on Rehabilitation Education, and the National Council on Rehabilitation Education. At Alabama State University, this expert was an Program Coordinator, Assistant and Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Services, as well as the Program Director and Chair of the Prosthetics and Orthotics Masters Program. He developed the first masters program in prosthetics and orthotics at a Historical Black College and University. He is currently an Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at a prominent medical university in the mid-west.

This highly qualified expert has over 25 years of experience in orthopedic surgery. He obtained his BA in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University, before receiving his MD from Temple University. He then went on to complete an internship in general surgery at the Albert Einstein Medical Center, a residency in orthopedic surgery at Boston University Medical Center, a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center, and a second fellowship in orthopedic surgery and clinical research at Boston University. Today, this expert is board-certified in orthopedic surgery. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine, the International Society of Cartilage Replacement, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, and the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, where he has also been elected as a fellow. Additionally, he is very active in academia, having published and presented extensively on topics related to orthopedic surgery. This expert is currently an orthopedic surgeon at a private practice and an attending orthopedic surgeon at a hospital system and two surgical centers in New Jersey.

She holds a doctoral degree in rehabilitation science and technology from the University of Pittsburgh. Her undergraduate education includes orthotic and prosthetic training from Century College, a BA in human service administration from Metropolitan State University, and an MBA from Baker College. Her work experience ranges from pediatric care at two prestigious children's institutions, as well as adult care, trauma care, and rehabilitation services. This expert is a board-certified orthotist, prosthetist, and mastectomy fitter, and is active in her field as a member of the International Society of Orthotists & Prosthetists and the American Academy of Orthotists/Prosthetists. Currently, this expert is an assistant professor and scientific researcher at a university in Pennsylvania.
