She earned her BA in anthropology and her BS in marine biology at the University of California Santa Cruz before completing her MS in evaluative clinical science at Dartmouth College. She went on to earn her MD from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed an internship in general surgery from Palmetto Health Richland and a residency in emergency medicine at Orlando Health.
