He received an A.S. in Law Enforcement from West Valley College, a B.S. in Law Enforcement from Metropolitan State College, and a M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Colorado. Certified as a Police Executive and a Force Science Analyst by the Force Science Institute at the Minnesota State University, he previously served as President for the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police.
