Explosives Expert Witnesses

This expert is a qualified Forensic Examiner by the FBI Laboratory Training, and has been working in the field for more than 10 years. He is the first vice president of the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and has authored several publications focusing on forensic firearm/toolmark identification and gunshot residue testing. He is a former Forensic Firearm and Tool Mark Examiner for the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Laboratory Manager for the Michigan State Police Northville Laboratory, and is currently the president and owner of a private forensic consulting group.

This expert served in the US Navy as an explosive ordnance disposal technician, retiring after 15 years as a platoon chief. He has been deployed multiple times to the Horn of Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and has extensive experience with weapon technical intelligence and counter-IED analysis. Since 2011, he has been working for JIDO contractors. In his current role, he is the primary adviser to the commander and staff on all C-IED efforts.

This expert has over 30 years of experience in analytical chemistry and explosives detection. After earning his BS in Chemistry from the University of Hartford, he earned his PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Arizona State University. He has served in numerous governmental roles, including as a chief scientist in the transportation security laboratory as well as the chief of the applied research division, both at the Department of Homeland Security. Further, he is published in his field, has been invited to speak at numerous explosives conferences, and is internationally known in the field of mass spectrometry and explosives detection. This expert is currently a consultant for a company in New Jersey that focuses on technology advising and consulting.

This expert has nearly 40 years of experience in explosive devices, bombs, pyrotechnics, hazardous devices, and post-blast investigations. He earned his BS from Capella University and is certified as an international post blast investigator. Currently, he is a member of various professional organizations such as the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators, and the International Association of Explosives Engineers. Formerly, he has held various roles as an explosive ordinance disposal technician in the U.S. Army, a project supervisor for SCI, Inc., program coordinator of the Texas Engineering Service at Texas A&M University, a senior associate/wmd specialist at SO Technologies, and a program manager in the Marine Forces Reserve. This expert currently serves as an adjunct professor of global studies at a VA university as well as a program manager for a terrorism technical support organization.
