Dr. Carlos Lavernia, MD

Dr. Carlos J. Lavernia has specialized experience in Orthopaedic Surgery and Adult Reconstructive Orthopaedic Surgery. They earned their BS in Mathematics and MS in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University and MD from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. After completing their residency in Orthopedic Surgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine, they went on to complete a fellowship in Lower Extremity Reconstruction at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Today, the expert holds a certification in Orthopedic Surgery. Previously, they were a Research Engineer at Tulane University School of Medicine, an Instructor at Tulane University, and an Instructor at Loyola University New Orleans. Currently, they work as an Owner and Physician at Carlos J. Lavernia, MD, as a Voluntary Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and as a Professor at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
