She is a licensed registered nurse with additional certifications as a rehabilitation registered nurse and wound, ostomy, and continenece nurse. She is active in her field as a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society. Formerly, she was an assistant nurse manager at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
