He received his BA from Eastern Michigan University before earning his JD from Michigan State University and his MBA from the University of Michigan. He served as the executive director of the Delta Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity for over 29 years and has been a 36-year member of the North American Interfraternity Conference. He is also a founding member of the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee, an associate member of the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors, and a life member of the Fraternity Executives Association.
