He earned his BS and MS in special education from Arkansas State University and a PhD in psychology and special education from St. Louis University. He is active in his field as a member of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and has published 15 articles and presented across the nation on performance management for residential centers serving individuals with disabilities. He formerly served as the director of special education at multiple state hospitals and the CEO of a community-based residential program for persons with developmental disabilities. This multiple board certified forensic psychiatrist has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages, predominantly specializing in Addictions, PTSD and Sleep Medicine. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and has held top teaching and clinical positions at Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine. Currently, he is the President of a psychiatric private practice association in Virginia, and a Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at a university medical center in Richmond, Virginia.

She received a B.A. in English, History, and Psychology from the University of Durban-Westville; a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College; an Ed.M in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University; and a EdD. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. Elected as a Fellow to the American Psychological Association, she was a first responder to both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina and has authored two books: A Practical approach to Trauma and Crisis and Disaster Counseling: lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina. She has presented both nationally and internationally on violence and trauma. She currently serves as a Chair and Professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington DC and a Psychologist at Georgetown University Department of Psychiatry, and as a Consultant to companies concerning workplace violence. She has been recognized as a PTSD expert witness and in this capacity consulted with DC and Baltimore law firms.
