Before joining academia, he practiced complex financial restructuring at Latham & Watkins and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in Los Angeles and Baker Botts in Houston. While in private practice, he participated in cases involving Lehman Brothers and Trump Hotel & Casino Resorts. He then transitioned to academia, serving as an associate professor of law at Lewis & Clark Law School.
