This highly qualified expert has years of experience in the field of premises liability. He received his PhD in criminology from Florida State University and is a certified protection professional by the American Society for Industrial Security. He is a member of various renowned professional associations, including the American Correctional Association, the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners, the Florida Crime Prevention Association and the National Floor Safety Institute. He is a former adjunct professor of criminal justice, corrections and criminology at Florida International University and a former professor of criminal justice at Keiser College. He has also provided consulting services and conducted lectures and workshops for various government agencies. He lectures both nationally and internationally and has published 44+ journal articles focused on crime prevention, security, and jail design. He is the president and owner of a major security and safety design company in Florida.

This dramshop liability expert has a background in law enforcement. He is a former Police Officer and later served as a Senior Investigator for the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. As a Liquor Control Officer, he was assigned to investigate alcohol-related accidents and violence to assure compliance with the state law and the operational procedures of the establishment as well as the applicable standard of care. Formerly the Principal Consultant and Executive Vice President at IPC International Corporation, a security firm, he entered the field as a Detective with the Baltimore Police Department. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the American University and completed graduate level work at several institutions, including the Advanced CPTED curriculum at the National Crime Prevention Institute. His practice has included urban environments, race tracks, traditional and mixed-use shopping centers, parks, residential, and commercial facilities; he has instructed in CPTED and crime prevention for police departments, private security entities, corporate management and facility staff at all levels, and supported plaintiff and defense litigation related to premises liability, and security adequacy.

This expert has served the Drug Enforcement Administration for 21 years before entering the private sector. He gained a BA in law enforcement administration from Youngstown State University and was a state trooper for the Maryland State Police for 7 years before joining the DEA. At the DEA, he investigated international and domestic crime organizations, seizing millions of dollars in drug-related assets. This expert has been decorated numerous times and has been honored by the Attorney General for his service.
