He earned his BS at Athens University of Economics and Business before earning his MS and PhD in civil engineering at Purdue University. He is active in his field as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and as the author of more than 25 peer-reviewed publications. He formerly served as a research program manager at the Center for Road Safety, as a consulting engineer at SGM Engineering, and as an assistant professor and associate director of the Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics at SUNY Buffalo.
