He received his MD from Yale University School of Medicine and an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Washington. He completed residencies in Head & Neck Surgery and Plastic Surgery at the University of Washington and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before completing a Head and Neck Reconstruction and Skull Base Surgery fellowship at the University of Oviedo in Spain. He is very well published in his field with over 90 peer-reviewed articles, 19 book chapters, and 2 books in his field. He has held multiple academic roles at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Colorado teaching Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology.
