This expert has been teaching and researching ethics and law in healthcare for over 35 years. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a concentration in the Philosophy of Law from the University of Virginia, as well as a J.D. from the University of Memphis, where she graduated magna cum laude. After receiving her Ph.D., she served as a Medical Philosopher in the Program in Human Biology and Society at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine prior to becoming an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in Medicine. Currently, this expert is a tenured Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at a major medical university, where she also served as a Professor in the Division of Health Services and Policy Research in the Department of Preventive Medicine. She is Chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA's) Task Force on Conflict Resolution in Health Care (Health Law section), while she also Chairs the ABA's Healthcare Committee (Dispute Resolution section). She has published over 160+ peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including two major books on law in the medical marketplace and the intersection of medical ethics and medicine's economics. She sits on the Editorial Board of "IRB: Ethics and Human Research", the "Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics", "Accountability in Research" (2005 - 2015), while she is also a reviewer for a number of other professional journals, including the "Journal of Clinical Ethics" the "Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law," and various medical journals.

This highly qualified attorney has been studying legal ethics for over 40 years. He earned his BA cum laude from Carleton University, his LLB summa cum laude from the Université de Sherbrooke, and his LLM from Yale Law School. Additionally, he was Columbia University's Law and Economics Fellow in 1981. Before coming to the US and entering academia, he served as a law clerk for a member of Canada's Supreme Court. He also served for five years on Quebec's Human Rights Commission. He sits on the advisory boards of several other think tanks. He sits on the Board of Governors of the National Association of Scholars. He or his op-eds have appeared in varied electronic media (including CNN, CNNfn, C-Span, Fox News, Fox News Online, Hudson Institute Online, National Public Radio, National Review Online, Tech Central Station, Voice of America, C.BC, Radio-Canada, and West German Radio) as well as in a wide array of newspapers (including the Wall St. Journal, Christian Science Monitor, Baltimore Sun, Washington Times, Tulsa Journal, Kansas City Star, [Montreal] La Presse, Montreal Gazette, [Montreal] Le Devoir, [Toronto] Globe and Mail, and Japan Times). Currently, he is a Professor of Law at a VA university where he teaches Torts, Legal Ethics, Products Liability, and Jurisprudence. His research on torts and ethics issues is nationally known has published numerous books, chapters, and articles on legal ethics. Notably, he is co-author of two editions of West's Legal Ethics in a Nutshell and is sole author of two editions of West's Products Liability hornbook.

This expert's professional career has spanned 50 years, while for the past 20 years he has specialized in guiding companies through the CE marking process for products prepared to enter the EU market and for companies in the US who want CE marking on their products for market flexibility and/or liability protection, many of which are medical devices and machinery. This expert conducts forensic legal analysis of companies' Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), and Quality System Regulations as stipulated by the FDA. He has hosted over 450 seminars and workshops and has published more than 300 articles and multiple books in the areas of Liability, EU Directives/CE Marking, Technical Standards, FDA Quality System Regulations, and ISO 90001 and 14001. He has developed and delivered on-site training programs on product liability exposure for medical device insurance companies, as well as for corporate counsel, defense counsel, and trial attorneys involved with medical devices and medical device manufacturers. As a Senior Consultant for both Excel Partnerships and SAI Global, he also developed and delivered on-site training programs on CE marking for the Medical Devices Directive and related Quality Management Systems. As Legal Expert/Expert Witness he has prepared legal materials for use in litigation involving Quality Systems and CE marked products as well as EU Administrative Reviews.
