Immunology Expert Witnesses in Arizona

This expert's is a Physician-Scientist (M.D. and Ph.D) who serves as an attending hepatologist at a top tier university. He specializes the care of viral hepatitis (HCV and HBV) and other liver diseases. His research interests have been centered on hepatitis C virus (HCV) virology, pathogenesis, and virus-host interaction including immune response. For the past 10 years during his PhD and Post-Doctoral training, he has investigated viral-host interactions that regulate HCV viral replication through the activation of intracellular innate immune response. In recent years, he has focused on understanding how host cell innate immune pathways sense HCV infection and initiate the host response which involves type I interferon and proinflammatory cytokine production to regulate hepatic immunity. After a recent transition to an independent faculty position, his laboratory continues to investigate virus-host interactions that regulates disease outcome and pathogenesis of HCV infection. He has extensive expertise and skills in virology, cell signaling, cytokine biology, and cell biology. His role as a physician specializing in the care of viral hepatitis at an academic medical center offers the unique integration of basic science and clinical/translational science into the laboratory research program.

This expert earned his BA at Eastern New Mexico University and his PhD in Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine. He went on to complete a Fellowship at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. He has been extensively published, including 41 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 5 book chapters, and has two patents. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at a University in New Mexico. His expertise is in immunology and infectious diseases.
