This highly qualified expert received her BA in Psychology and her MS in Clinical Social Work from the University of Texas-Pan American. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and she is a certified Family Trauma Professional, Suicide Prevention Counselor and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). This expert previously worked as Supervisor II for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Here, she led and supervised a unit of caseworkers responsible for providing adult protective services to victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. She provided case management supervision and interacted routinely with the Texas Department of Family Services' clients, organizations' representatives, and the public. This expert then went on to work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and as Executive Director of the Family Crisis Center of the Rio Grande Valley. She managed and lead the social services agency and provided individual and group mental health therapy and case management supervision. This experienced family medicine physician and hospitalist has been actively practicing in a diverse array of clinical settings for more than 30 years. After earning her MD from Texas A&M University, she pursued her residency in Family Medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas where she later served as faculty and developed a nationally known global health program. She is board certified in Family Medicine with sub-specialties in Geriatrics, Tropical Medicine, and Quality Assurance. She has extensive experience practicing in Nepal, where she helped to start a medical school and founded a non-profit and community based development organization. She was Program Director of a family medicine residency in Texas as well as Academic Director of the only residency program in Alaska, supervising and training faculty, residents, and medical students. During her time in academics she maintained an active outpatient and hospital practice, and actively published in peer-review journals as well. Most of her practice has been full-scope including obstetrics, pediatrics, and hospital medicine. She currently works as a locums hospitalist and is licensed in Texas, Indiana, and Alaska.
