She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a concentration in the Philosophy of Law from the University of Virginia, as well as a J.D. from the University of Memphis, where she graduated magna cum laude. After receiving her Ph.D., she served as a Medical Philosopher in the Program in Human Biology and Society at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine prior to becoming an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in Medicine. Currently, this expert is a tenured Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at a major medical university, where she also served as a Professor in the Division of Health Services and Policy Research in the Department of Preventive Medicine. She is Chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA's) Task Force on Conflict Resolution in Health Care (Health Law section), while she also Chairs the ABA's Healthcare Committee (Dispute Resolution section). She has published over 160+ peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including two major books on law in the medical marketplace and the intersection of medical ethics and medicine's economics. She sits on the Editorial Board of "IRB: Ethics and Human Research", the "Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics", "Accountability in Research" (2005 - 2015), while she is also a reviewer for a number of other professional journals, including the "Journal of Clinical Ethics" the "Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law," and various medical journals.
