He holds over 10 different certifications related to building inspection, including 5 certifications through the International Code Council and a master inspector certification. He is active in his field as a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, the International Code Council, and the North American Deck and Rail Association. For over 20 years, he worked as a general construction contractor for General Contracting in Dallas. Currently, this expert serves as a professional residential building inspector for a building inspection company in Texas.

This highly qualified expert has extensive experience with fire safety and building codes. Over the course of his career, he has completed multiple professional development certificate courses, including an emergency medical technician certificate and a firefighter certificate of compliance at Indian River State College, an aircraft rescue fire fighting program at Mississippi Fire Academy, emergency services leadership institute, and certification courses at Florida State Fire College. He holds over a dozen certifications, including certifications as a firefighter, a fire code administrator, a fire safety inspector, and several FEMA certifications. He earned his BS from Monmouth College, is a certified EPA renovator, and is licensed as a new home builder, home improvement contractor, construction code official, building sub-code official, and a residential, commercial, industrial, and high rise/high hazard specialist. This expert is active in his field as a member of the Bergen/Passaic Municipal Inspectors Association and the New Jersey Business and Industry Association. He formerly served as a construction code official for the Township of Washington in Bergen County and a building sub-code official for the Borough of Paramus, both in New Jersey. This expert has over 30 years of experience in the roofing and building enclosure industry. He earned his AAS in civil engineering technology from Hawkeye Institute of Technology before earning his BA in computer science and business administration from Coe College. He is licensed as a professional engineer in 4 states and is a registered roof consultant and exterior wall consultant. He is active in his field as a member of ASTM International, the Roof Consultants Institute, and the Building Enclosure Council, and as an author of several articles on roofing and building codes. He formerly served as a design engineer and project manager for Shive-Hattery Engineers and Architects, the office manager for VJ Engineer, and a project engineer with Brown Engineering, where he was responsible for building envelope and roofing consulting projects. Currently, this expert serves as a project engineer for facilities at a roofing engineering consulting firm based in Iowa.
