Competitor Infringes on Proprietary Imaging Technology

This case takes place in Arkansas and involves alleged patent infringement on technology used in a proprietary imaging device. The defendants are the inventors of various imaging technologies holding patents worldwide, including several U.S. patents. The defendant believes that the plaintiffs own imaging technology practices the invention covered under his multiple U.S. patents. According to the defendant, the accused product consists of a system of text generation and recognition technology whereby text strings can be generated and printed on documents with a unique security source code directly integrated into the printed text. A reading device can then be used to capture the text stings printed on the document and detect the embedded data, which syncs the document with a digital certificate of authenticity held by a third party. An expert in intellectual property (IP) was sought to opine on the issue.
