Car Slides Off Carrier Trailer Causing Highway Accident

This case involves a car carrier trailer that caused a highway accident. The driver of the car carrier trailer had failed to properly secure a compact car, which was located in the outermost position of the trailer. As a result, the compact car slid out of the trailer and onto the highway. The driver of the car behind the trailer applied the brakes to avoid colliding with the compact car. Although he avoided collision with the compact car, he was rear-ended and sustained significant whiplash injuries. An expert in injury biomechanics was sought to discuss the long term effects of whiplash on the body.

Question(s) For Expert Witness

Normally whiplash injuries are considered to be associated primarily with cervical (neck) sprain/strain. This does not typically involve dizziness. However, the mechanism of whiplash, which is what happens to occupants in rear-end collisions, has been associated with a variety of complaints depending on the severity of the accident. In some rear-end collisions, there is a mechanism for a closed head injury which can be associated with dizziness. I
