The case involves a child who died in a collision with a parked car while riding her bike. The child was riding her bike at a high rate of speed down a hill near her home when she struck the rear end of a parked car that was protruding into the street from the owner’s driveway. The child, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was thrown over her handlebars and impacted the pavement face-first, suffering serious head injuries that eventually proved fatal. It was alleged that the car was illegally and dangerously parked at the time of the accident.

inline imageI am a licensed Professional Engineer. I have 35 years of experience in accident reconstruction with thousands of cases over the years. I have considerable experience in pedestrian and bicycle accidents. I have considerable familiarity with this type of matter. I have lectured on accident reconstruction to DOT persons, insurance company meetings and Trial Lawyers meetings, and have visually reconstructed accident scenes using technology such as Jvt applications. I also teach Accident Reconstruction topics in my Physics and Engineering Courses at a college near Syracuse, NY. It is possible to determine the position of the car during the crash to make an assessment as to whether it was parked illegally at the time of impact.
