Prof. Linda Hooper Bùi earned a BS in biology from California State University, Long Beach, and went on to earn a MS and PhD in entomology at the University of California Riverside. She joined Louisiana State University as an assistant professor with the department of entomology, and began her as a "fire ant entomologist". Following Hurricane Katrina, she broadened her research, and for the past decade has focused on coastal ecological questions, including the impacts of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010. She has over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has given dozens of invited presentations. Currently, this expert serves as a professor of environmental sciences and the director of the research, education and mentoring program at a top university in Louisiana.
