Dr. Waldemar A. Carlo has 41 years of experience in the fields of Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He earned his BS from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and his MD from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. After completing both an internship and a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Puerto Rico Hospital, he went on to complete a fellowship in Neonatology at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Today, this expert is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Formerly, this expert served as a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine and as the Medical Director of Neonatal Critical Care Transport at UAB Hospital. He currently serves as a Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics, as the Edwin M. Dixon Endowed Chair of Neonatology, and as the Co-Director of Neonatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. He is also the Director of Newborn Nurseries at Children's of Alabama and University Medical Center.
