This board certified expert earned his BS from Allegheny College and MD from the University of Pittsburgh. Residency training in General Surgery was completed at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. He is a member of several prestigious surgical committees and societies and he has been recognized for his numerous contributions to improving patient care and enhancing resident and postgraduate medical education. He is actively involved in research, with more than 500 original peer reviewed articles and abstracts, 154 book chapters/ books, and he has presented at more than 400 invited lectures and conferences. He has served in a host of clinical leadership and administrative roles such as the Director of Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Denver general Hospital and the Chief of General Surgery at The Methodist Hospital. Currently, he is a Professor of Surgery and the Chief of Acute Care Surgery at a major university affiliated medical center.
