He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Yale University School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital, and then went on to complete a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. He stays active in his field as a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Formerly, he was a clinical instructor of ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine.
