This expert in the biomechanics of the human spine earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his doctorate in biomedical engineering from Duke University, where he researched spinal trauma. In recognition of his scholarly contributions, the Orthopedic Trauma Association granted him the 'Best Paper' award for his work on spine trauma and the spine's response to loads.
