Hydrology Expert Witnesses

This expert has thirty plus years of environmental and water resource engineering experience throughout the Americas. Exceptional skills in several water resource and environmental specialties including surface-water and groundwater hydrology, hydrogeologic characterization, surface-water/groundwater interaction, contaminant fate and transport in the subsurface and aquatic environment (special emphasis on PCBs, petroleum compounds, industrial chemicals, and mining-related contamination), limnology, water quality, aquatic ecology, aquatic organism passage. Served as an expert witness for varied cases since 1989. Proficiently team with legal professionals to achieve goals.

This expert has over 35 years of engineering experience specializing in the modeling of surface water resource systems, forensic hydrology and hydraulics, and alternative flood control measures. He is also an American Academy of Water Resources recognized Diplomate as a Water Resouces Engineer. The expert has managed both flood control and water supply projects as well. As a State Board Member of the Forensic Expert Witness Association, he has demonstrated distinguished and considerable experience testifying as an expert witness on the design of stormwater control systems, and the causes of historic flood and drowning events in well over 100 cases.

This expert has over 30 years of experience in groundwater resource investigations. He received his BS in geology, his MS in geological sciences with an emphasis in geophysics and his PhD in geological sciences with an emphasis in hydrogeology, all at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He is a licensed professional geologist in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Wyoming, as well as a licensed geophysicist in California. He holds three patents relating to well rehabilitation, horizontal drilling, and in-situ radium treatment, has over ten peer reviewed publications and has presented widely on topics in his field. He is also an active member of a number of professional organizations, including the National Ground Water Association and Society of Exploration Geophysicists. He has held a number of positions, including as the vice president and principal geoscientist at Ted Zorich and Associates, Inc, the chief geoscientist at Layne GeoSciences, Inc, and a senior geoscientist and principal at Aquifer Science and Technology. He has also served as the senior managing hydrogeologist and then principal at Cardno Entrix and a senior associate at Leggette, Brashears & Graham, Inc. Currently, he is a senior geophysicist and hydrogeologist at a consulting company in Wisconsin. In this role he specializes in groundwater management, high capacity well siting and design, surface and borehole geophysics, groundwater modeling, managed aquifer recharge, agricultural impacts to groundwater, mine hydrogeology, and water permitting for energy projects.
