After earning his BS at Geneva College and his MD at Hahnemann University, he went on to complete an internship in general surgery at the Naval Hospital of San Diego as well as two residencies in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery; one at the naval hospital of Oakland and the other at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. This expert is board-certified in otolaryngology and is an active member of several professional societies in his field, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Society of Geriatric Otolaryngology, the Dysphagia Research Society and the Scientific Committee of the European Laryngological Society. Formerly, he served as a commander and staff otolaryngologist in the department of head and neck surgery at the Naval Medical Center of Portsmouth. This expert was also an instructor of otolaryngology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and an associate professor, teaching voice and swallowing disorders, at Wake Forest University. He is currently serving as a professor and the vice-chairman of otolaryngology at a medical school in Georgia as well as the director of the voice, airway and swallowing disorders program at a university-affiliated research center.
