My name is Mark Taylor. I'm a partner here at Powers Taylor. We first came across the Expert Institute really kind of fortuitously. We were doing medical malpractice, I think at the time. We had two cases we just couldn't find an expert. We had done internet searches, we had contacted a bunch of potential experts, but nobody was returning our calls. The account representative for our area happened to contact me, and I said, "Let's try these guys." Within, I think, two days we had two really good experts lined up for those cases, and after that, we said, "That's the way to go."

You know, as lawyers, we hear the client's story and we say, "Wow, that's got to be malpractice," but it's something we don't know about. Being able to consult with the in-house doctors at the Expert Institute, just lay out a fact pattern, get one of their doctors on the phone, and then they can give you the quick overview where they'll say, "You know, it doesn't sound like malpractice necessarily because that can go wrong without negligence," or they can say, "That sounds like something that needs to be investigated." That helps us get through all the referrals that we get, and we're trying to parse through those and we don't want to miss the good cases but we also can't afford to spend three and four hours evaluating everyone in those cases, so it's a real good shortcut for us. Just the ability that gives us as plaintiff's lawyers to do what we're good at—it's helping people that have been injured and making a difference in their lives.
