Patient Suffers Ineffective Mitral Valve Valvuloplasty

A patient with a history of mitral valve valvuloplasty faced complications during a procedure to replace his mitral valve, causing him to allege that his doctors had wrongfully recommended him for the operation. After undergoing an elective laparoscopic mitral valve replacement, the patient’s aorta ruptured, placing him in critical abdominal trauma. An expert in valve surgeries was asked to opine as to whether or not the patient was a good candidate for the surgery and whether or not the surgeon was negligent while performing the procedure.
