Elderly Woman Suffers Stroke After Cataract Surgery

This case involves a 72-year-old woman with astigmatism who went to her ophthalmologist for cataract surgery. She came in the morning for the operation, and during preliminary preparation the ophthalmologist found that the eye pressure was abnormally high. However, he did not attempt to lower the pressure before performing the procedure. This allegedly caused the patient to have a stroke 2 days following the surgery which resulted in blindness in her right eye.
