This case involves a bulldog that was attacked by an aggressive presa canario. At the time of the incident, both dogs were enrolled in a behavioral training class for aggressive dogs. At one point during the training class, the owner of the presa canario lost control of her dog. The presa canario ran across the training lawn and attacked the plaintiff’s bulldog, biting it severely. The bulldog sustained a broken leg and deep gashes from the incident. The bulldog subsequently required several surgeries to correct the injuries it sustained. However, the bulldog did not handle the surgery well and required several courses of antibiotics and corrective procedures.

Expert Witness Response

inline imageI am a veterinarian with over a decade of experience in the field. I have published a variety of journals, books, and articles in my area of specialty. I also own and operate a private veterinary practice that primarily sees dogs. I commonly work with bulldogs for a variety of surgical cases, so I am well aware of their specific medical issues. There is no question that specific precautions have to be taken with this breed. In order to offer a complete opinion on the matter, I would need to formally review all the records pertaining to this incident.
