Accident Reconstructionist Determines Liability For Car Accident That Paralyzes Cyclist

This case involves a cyclist who was struck by a car in a suburban intersection. The driver was making a left turn and did not yield to the cyclist who was oncoming in the opposite lane. The cyclist claimed that the driver made eye contact with him and waved him forward. The driver claims that she never saw the cyclist. The cyclist suffered a severe neck injury and is now paralyzed from the waist down. An expert in accident reconstruction was sought to assist in determining liability for the case.

1. Please describe your experience working in accident reconstruction.

Expert Witness Response E-069521

inline imageI am an ACTAR accredited reconstructionist with over 30 years experience. I retired after over 28 years as a state trooper and served as the lead investigator for the District Attorney's Office Vehicular Homicide and Assault Team. I have thousands of hours of training in all aspects of accident reconstruction and have taught numerous subjects in the filed. I have testified in thousands of civil and criminal cases as an expert in accident reconstruction. I have extensive experience in auto-bicycle reconstruction, with hundreds of auto-bicycle reconstructions completed. This case should focus on visibility of the rider to the driver of the vehicle, as well as any distracted driving on the part of the vehicle. Also, I would cite state statutes stressing the driver's responsibilities.
