Dr. Paul R. Carney has 25 years of experience in the field of Pediatric Neurology. He earned his BS in Chemistry from John Carroll University and his MD from the Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Valparaíso. After completing a research fellowship in Neuroscience at the Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Valparaíso, he moved to the United States, where he completed an internship in Pediatrics at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and a residency in Neurology at the University of Michigan Hospital. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery and in Epilepsy, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Sleep Disorders, respectively, both at the University of Michigan Hospital. Today, this expert is board certified in Epilepsy and Neurology with a Special Qualification in Child Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Formerly, he served as the Director of Pediatric Epilepsy at the UNC School of Medicine. He was also the B.J. and Eve Wilder Professor of Epilepsy at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He currently serves as the Director of the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program, as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology, as a Professor of Child Health, and as an Adjunct Professor of Neurology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Missouri College of Engineering. Moreover, he is an Attending Physician for MU Health Care Physicians and an Attending Pediatric Neurologist at University Hospital.
