Click below to watch. About Dr. Williams - Currently, the dean of Engineering and the Louis S. LeTellier Chair for The Citadel School of Engineering, Dr. Williams was formally the Associate Dean for the University of Kansas (KU) School of Engineering and the Charles E. and Mary Jane Spahr Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In his role, he is leading the strategic planning and visioning for The Citadel to become the premier senior military college for educating engineers in their disciplines and artificial intelligence. Currently, The Citadel is ranked #16 in the U.S. News & World ranking for undergraduate engineer programs (non-doctoral). His career spans higher education and the private sector, including Apple Inc., GE Medical Systems, and Allied Signal Aerospace Company. He was also a Boeing Welliver Faculty Fellow and GE Edison Engineer. Dr. Williams was chosen as a National Science Foundation ScienceMaker, one of 180 top African American scientists and engineers, for The HistoryMakers national archive housed in the U.S. Library of Congress for his work promoting diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). His research and education work in artificial intelligence, autonomous robotics, and human-robot interaction has resulted in over 100 technical publications and presentations. His collaborative efforts brought in approximately $26M in research and educational funding, corporate support, and private donations. He is the author of the book “Out of the Box: Building Robots, Transforming Lives.” Dr. Williams received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas, his M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Marquette University, his Ph.D. in electrical engineering with an emphasis in artificial intelligence from the University of Kansas, and his Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University. #blackhistorymonth #diversityandinclusion #technology #ai
