About Dr. John William Cromwell, FACS, FASCRS, MD

Dr. John W. Cromwell has 19 years of experience in the field of General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. He earned his BS in Chemistry from Nebraska Wesleyan University and his MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School. After completing his internship and residency in General Surgery and his fellowship in Surgical Infectious Disease at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, he then went on to complete his research fellowship at Masonic Cancer Center. He also completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Today, this expert is board certified in Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Formerly, he held roles as a Quality Officer of the Surgical Services at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa. Currently, he serves as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa, as a Faculty in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Informatics at the University of Iowa Graduate College, and as Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder at DASH Analytics. He also serves as an Associate Chief Medical Officer and the Director of the Surgical Quality and Safety and as the Director of the Division of Gastrointestinal, Minimally Invasive, and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
