About Dr. John David Hixson, MD

Dr. John D. Hixson has over 16 years of experience in the field of Neurology and Clinical Informatics. He earned his BS in both Biochemistry and Genetics from Texas A&M University and his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing his residency in Neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, he went on to complete a fellowship in Epilepsy and Neurophysiology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Today, this expert is board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Formerly, he held roles as an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of California San Francisco and San Francisco VA Medical Center. He also served as the National Clinical Director for the Health Informatics Initiative and the Clinical Lead of the Office of Connected Care for the US Department of Veteran Affairs. Currently, he serves as a Professor of Clinical Neurology at both the University of California San Francisco and San Francisco VA Medical Center, as well as a Professor and the Fellowship Director for Epilepsy Center of Excellence at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
