Dr. Stephen Smith, MD, FACS

Dr. R. Stephen Smith has 33 years of experience in the field of Surgical Critical Care and Surgery. He earned his BS from Arkansas Tech University and his MD from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine. After completing his residency in General Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, he went on to complete a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at St. Mary Medical Center. Today, this expert is board certified in Surgical Critical Care and Surgery. Formerly, this expert held roles as a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and as a Professor in the Department of Clinical Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Currently, he serves as a Professor in the Department of Surgery at UF Health Shands Hospital, as a Trauma Medical Director at UF Health Shands Hospital, and as an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at UF Health Shands Hospital.
