Dr. Stephen Thornton, MD, FACEP

Dr. Stephen Louis Thornton has over 15 years of experience in the field of Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology. He earned his BS in Biochemistry from Kansas State University and his MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. After completing his residency in Emergency Medicine at UCSF Fresno Medical Center, he went on to complete a fellowship in Toxicology at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. Today, this expert is board certified in Addiction Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Medical Toxicology. Formerly, this expert held roles as a Clinical Instructor of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and as a Staff Physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Providence Medical Center. Currently, he serves as a Medical Toxicologist at Children’s Mercy Hospital and as the Medical Director of the Poison Control Center at the University of Kansas Health System. He also serves as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
