Dr. Richard M. Smiley has 35 years of experience in the field of Anesthesiology. He earned his BS in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his MA, MPhil, and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He completed his MD from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and his MS in Biostatistics and Clinical Research Methods from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. After completing his internship in Internal Medicine at Greenwich Hospital, he went on to complete his residency and fellowship in Anesthesiology at New York - Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia. Today, this expert is board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Formerly, he held roles such as the Virginia Apgar M.D. Professor of Anesthesiology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and as Chief of the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
