After completing both his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Hospital, he went on to complete a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Emory University School of Medicine. He currently serves as a Professor of Infectious Diseases and as the Associate Chief of Epidemiology and Education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also a Professor of Epidemiology, as well as Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. Furthermore, he is an Attending Physician at UPMC Presbyterian.
