This highly qualified expert is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He earned his BA in Chemistry from Pomona College, graduating magna cum laude. He went on Harvard Medical School for his MD. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA before completing a fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at UCSF, where he also obtained a Master's in Clinical Research. He is a member of several prestigious societies in his field including the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy, and has been selected as a Fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association. He currently serves as the Director of Gastrointestinal Mucosal Biology Core, holds the Endowed Chair of Gastrointestinal Medicine, directs NIH-funded research programs in colorectal cancer, HIV, and the microbiome, and appointed an Associate Professor of Medicine at one of the premier university affiliated medical centers in the country. In addition to his clinical duties, he is well published with over 45 peer reviewed journal articles and several book chapters. He is often invited to lecture on topics in gastroenterology. He actively teaches courses at a West Coast University and mentors students, residents, and fellows.
