Dr. James F. Calland has over 15 years of experience in General, Trauma and Critical Care Surgery. He obtained his BLA in Natural Sciences from the Harvard University Extension School before receiving his MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He went on to complete an internship in Surgery at the University of Virginia Health System, a residency in General Surgery at the University of Virginia Health System, and a fellowship in Traumatology and Surgical Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Calland previously served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and as the Director of Trauma Performance Improvement at the University of Virginia Health System. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Virginia Medical School, the Associate Medical Director of Trauma, and a General and Trauma Surgeon at the University of Virginia Health System.
