Dr. Charles S. Cox, Jr. has 25 years of experience in the field of Pediatric Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He earned his BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin and his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed both an internship and a residency in Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, a research fellowship in Trauma and Burns at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical School. He also completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and today, this expert is board certified in Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care through the American Board of Surgery. Formerly, this expert served as an Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Cockrell School of Engineering and as the Associate Director of Hospital and Trauma Preparedness at The University of Texas Center for Biosecurity and Public Health Preparedness. He currently serves as the George and Cynthia Mitchell Distinguished Chair in Neurosciences, as the Glassell Family Distinguished Chair in Pediatric Surgery, as an Adjunct Professor of Nanomedicine and Biomedical Engineering, as a Co-Director of the Center for Translational Injury Research, and as the Children’s Fund, Inc. Distinguished Professor in Pediatric Surgery at the McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He is also the Director of the Pediatric Trauma Program at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, an Investigator in the Bentsen Stroke Center at the UT Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine, a Faculty Member at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and a Pediatric Surgeon at Memorial Hermann Hospital. Moreover, he is the Director of the Pediatric Regenerative Medicine Program and the Director of the Evelyn Griffin Stem Cell Therapeutics Laboratory and Judith Hoffberger Cellular Therapeutics Laboratory at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
