Expert Qualifications

This board certified expert is Harvard trained in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. He earned his BA and MD from the University of Hawaii. Internship and residency training were completed at University of Nevada School of Medicine. The expert is a member of multiple surgical societies and sits on the boards/ steering committees of many of them. He has won numerous awards such as first place in the Top Gun Laparoscopic Skills Shootout for the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and is actively involved in bariatric research with multiple grants to his name. In addition to serving as the chief of the division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery and the director of the Surgical Skills and Simulation Laboratory Clinical Simulation Center at his current institution, he does participate in resident and medical student education. The expert is frequently called upon to make presentations on various topics in minimally invasive surgery, is a peer reviewer for more than ten surgical/medical journals and is well published with over 30 papers and book chapters.
